HILLSIDE POOL CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS AND IMAGES

Construction in the hillside areas of Los Angeles sometimes involves properties with little to no area for construction of the swimming pool.  An innovative idea was to construct a free-standing pool above the garage.  In the project seen in the first two images, the pool was designed as an integral part of the residence and foundation system.  In the second two images, the pool was added after the garage was constructed.  A system of wood framing and isolated steel columns are present within the garage to support the pool.

Construction of a hillside swimming pool, structural deck and pool house over steep descending slope on Sunset Plaza Drive in the Hollywood Hills.  Images show limited access hillside bucket auger drill rig excavating friction piles to support the proposed structures.  Pile depths range from 16 to 22 feet into granite bedrock.  A conveyor belt was utilized to haul excavated foundation materials to the street.
